Nick Trepka
PRODUCER / WRITER / MIXER / ENGINEER
Biography
Nick started out making music aged 12 on a Commodore Amiga using tracker sequencers and creating his own virtual instruments, and then combining this with a love for the guitar and song.
While studying composition, he discovered recording and production as a creative outlet. He moved to London and established himself at the legendary Fortress Studios, first assisting on sessions with artists including The Breeders and Madness, and later engineering for artists such as Suzi Quatro, Roots Manuva, and Speech Debelle, and for producers including Mike Chapman, George Clinton and Joe Goddard.
Nick went on to set up his own studio where he began producing, engineering and writing with independent artists, and became associated with the Cowshed studio in North London, recording extensively to 2” tape and making recordings for artists including Boy George, Dennis Bovell and Pee Wee Ellis. He has also run sessions at Miloco Pool, Square, Westpoint, Red Room; Snap, The Crypt, Goldsmiths, Brighton Electric, and more.
Nick shifted from engineering to production and co-writing, and has co-written and produced work for Emmy The Great, Roxanne Tataei, Bloom De Wilde, Kav, Saint Leonard's Horses, and Speech Debelle. He has performed and toured with numerous collaborators on guitars, bass, vocals, keys and percussion, and as an artist himself.
Nick is an established producer, writer, and mixer with over twenty years working professionally in music and recording.
